A view from Kinghorn

I am really pleased at how this piece has turned out though I don’t think the photo does it justice. Having experimented with a few pieces using acrylic on paper coated with an acrylic medium, I’ve found the best results occur when I use thin layers of pigment and I don’t overwork the image.

This piece was created from a quick sketch made from the shores of the Firth of Forth at Kinghorn in Fife: my spot on the seafront offering a commanding view of Arthur’s Seat, Salisbury Crags and the city of Edinburgh. The Pentland Hills can be seen on the horizon and in the foreground a tanker, one of many ships that passed as I sat there.
You can take a closer look at this painting on my gallery page. Enquiries about purchasing this piece should be made to me at artbysmart4@gmail.com.
