Turning tide, Levenmouth

Change of subject and also a slight change in technique for this one. My last three paintings have featured a rural setting: a meandering river at sunset. This latest work has a more urban feel to it albeit with the sea as the immediate focus.
Here I have been experimenting with a more fluid technique, applying the pigment in thin layers of oil diluted with paint thinner. The end result is a translucency in the waves on the foreshore and to a lesser extent in the sky.
The view is taken from the beach at Leven taking in the Pentland hills in the far distance and the wind turbines at Methil in the middle distance. This part of Fife suffered economically with the closure of the coal mines and demise of heavy industry in the area. The recent investment in green technology might be seen to represent a turning of the tide in this respect.
