These sketches in oil pastel were taken from a series of photographs that I took from the train to Edinburgh. The sun was shining in Fife but a mist was clinging to the Lothian coastline. The tide was out, exposing a wide area of sand, but and the sea was without a ripple. These pieces will form the basis for two or three small oil paintings which I will work on over the next couple of weeks.
