Morton Lochs
Water is a recurring theme in my work and has been the focus for my last few paintings. Morton Lochs are part of the Tentsmuir Nature Reserve in North East Fife. This image was taken from one of the bird hides on a sunny afternoon in late March. The challenge here is to capture the quality of light created by the late afternoon sun on the water. The trees on the horizon are in deep shade as are the small reed covered islands in the loch. Sun reflects off the bullrushes and sparkles on the water. Still a bit of work to do on this one but pleased with progress so far.
