Working with children and animals

I don’t often capture living beings in my work but the two paintings featured here are part of a trilogy on the theme of ’summer afternoon’. This painting shows my son’s dog Willow resting in the shade of a monkey puzzle tree in my garden one day in June last year. This was our first visit to the house, having collected the keys a few days beforehand. Willow was the first to arrive and was waiting patiently under the tree for the rest of the family.

Image number two captures my granddaughter after a cooling shower from the garden hose on a very hot day in July 2019. Both of these pieces are postcard size, in oil on board and destined for an exhibition at the Art and Craft Collective later this year. Image number three is yet to be painted.
