Tentsmuir

The subject of my next painting is the shoreline at Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve in Fife. I visited on a late autumn afternoon just as the sun was beginning to set creating a subdued colour palette dominated by soft greys, greens and pinks. The sea is barely discernible: just a distant line on the horizon, the grass covered dunes stretching to the shoreline. Fans of Autumnwatch may remember that Tentsmuir was one of the sites featured in the October 2020 series.

Progress so far

Making reasonable progress with this one. My aim here is to capture the patterns and textures created by the grasses and vegetation, the overall effect being a tapestry in pigment.
