Royal Botanic Gardens at sunset
Inspired by the beautiful winter sunsets we had a few weeks ago, I’ve started an oil painting based on a watercolour sketch of the pond, a superb feature of the gardens and a focal point for visitors. I want to capture the pond, framed by the dark trees and the calm of the water, disturbed by only a few ripples as the ducks go about their business. the trees also form spectacular silhouettes agains the evening sky.
I’m anticipating that this won’t take me too long. I’m working mainly wet-on-wet applying the pigment by brush and palette knife.
