Last day of the year and too miserable outside to venture far. What better way to pass the time than to start a new painting?

Continuing with the mountain theme but back to the Lake District for this one. It was a lovely summer’s day when I made the original sketch from the top of Loughrigg Fell earlier this year. I’ve stopped here before, en route from Clappersgate to Grasmere, for a bite of lunch and to do some drawing, but more often than not have had to abandon the process because of rain or a gale force wind. The views from this vantage point are stunning whichever direction you look. For this piece I’m looking toward Crinkle Crags, Bow Fell and the Langdale Pikes.
