Making good progress with this painting and pleased with it so far. I’m looking to create a contrast between the dark mountains in the distance and the flat plain in the foreground, which is much lighter in hue with hints of pinky brown. I’ve stuck to my original plan of a more sparing use of pigment, applying thinner coats by brush rather than palette knife: more Cezanne than Van Gogh.
