Taking a break from scenes from the north of Scotland and returning to Edinburgh, my current work is the city as seen from the Pentland Hills. The weather was fine on this side of the Forth unlike Fife to the north, where rain clouds were gathering. Arthur’s Seat, Salisbury Crags and the Old Town seem to be shrouded in darkness in contrast to the light reflected off the sea beyond.
September update
This painting is putting up a bit of a fight. It’s one of those that I regret starting – too easy to get lost in the detail and lose sight of the big picture. Here’s what I’ve done so far.
So I’m going to set it aside for the moment as I’ve a few other projects to get on with. Hopefully I’ll be feeling more inspired when I come back to it.
